Foundation design
Establish subscriptions, identity, network boundaries, policies and resource ownership, drawing on Microsoft's Azure landing zone guidance where it fits.
Azure cloud services are Microsoft's platform for running servers, applications, data and backup in the cloud. Umbrella Tech provides Azure consulting, architecture and migration for Australian organisations, building a governed foundation of subscriptions, identity, networking and cost controls first, so workloads move in a planned way and your team inherits an environment that is documented and supportable.
Moving workloads into Azure without a target design can create inconsistent configurations, unclear costs and a difficult support handover. Cloud services need the same discipline as other critical infrastructure.
You receive an Azure environment built against agreed business and technical requirements, with costs that can be attributed and reviewed. Some workloads are better left on-premises or replaced by software as a service, and we say so when that is the case; our Technology Advisory services can help with that decision.
Establish subscriptions, identity, network boundaries, policies and resource ownership, drawing on Microsoft's Azure landing zone guidance where it fits.
Assess workloads, dependencies and recovery needs, then plan and carry out each move.
Deploy and configure the agreed applications and infrastructure, using infrastructure as code where repeatable deployment helps.
Define monitoring, backup, recovery, documentation and cost review responsibilities.

Azure is Microsoft's public cloud platform, offering virtual machines, storage, networking, databases, backup and application services billed by consumption. Microsoft runs Azure regions in Australia, which helps where data location matters.
When servers are due for replacement, when you need disaster recovery without a second site, or when applications need to scale. We compare Azure with keeping workloads on-premises or moving to software as a service before recommending it.
We assess workload suitability, dependencies, security and recovery requirements before designing a migration plan. Costs and operating responsibilities are considered alongside technical feasibility, and each move is tested before cutover.
It depends on the number of workloads, their dependencies, data volumes and the testing each needs. Scope and timing are confirmed in discovery.
Access to subscriptions should run through Microsoft Entra ID with least-privilege roles, policies should prevent unapproved resource types and regions, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud gives visibility of configuration risk. Backup and recovery are tested rather than assumed, and cost alerts are set before workloads go live.
