Requirements and boundaries
Identify users, workloads, information and external dependencies.
Solution architecture defines how systems, information, integrations and security controls should work together to meet a business need. Umbrella Tech provides solution architecture consulting for Australian organisations: we capture requirements, design the target architecture, record the key decisions and plan the transition from today's environment. Your delivery teams then build from a coherent design instead of a collection of products.
A collection of individually sound products can still form a difficult system. Unclear integration patterns, duplicated data and competing access models create complexity that persists through implementation.
You receive architecture artefacts, such as diagrams, decision records and a transition plan, that explain the system and guide delivery teams. Detailed deployment configuration is then developed through our Solution Design service.
Identify users, workloads, information and external dependencies.
Design components, integration patterns, identity and security controls.
Document trade-offs, constraints and the options considered.
Set out how to move from the current environment to the target without disrupting operations.
Security is part of the architecture, not a later layer. We design identity, access, data protection, logging and recovery into the target state and check it against obligations such as ISO/IEC 27001 or the Essential Eight. Where the architecture follows an IT Strategy & Roadmaps engagement, it stays aligned with the agreed priorities.

The discipline of designing how a set of systems works together to meet a defined business need: components, data flows, integrations, identity and controls. The major design decisions are made and recorded before implementation starts.
Before a significant new system, integration or migration, when several vendors must work together, or when an existing environment has grown without an overall design.
Architecture establishes the structure and major decisions. Implementation design translates those decisions into configuration, deployment steps and tests for a defined project.
Architecture hands over to delivery: detailed design, build, testing and handover through Technology Project Delivery, your internal team or your chosen provider. We can stay involved to keep delivery aligned with the design.
It depends on the number of systems and integrations, the clarity of requirements and the decisions still open. We confirm scope and timing during discovery.
Tell us what you are building or changing and which systems it touches, and we will help define the architecture.
