Technology & Infrastructure Review

An IT infrastructure review is a structured look at the servers, networks, cloud services, backups and operating practices your organisation runs on, and how well they support current and planned needs. Umbrella Tech carries out these reviews for growing Australian organisations and those facing a major decision. You receive a current-state view, ranked risks and a staged modernisation roadmap before you commit to replacing anything.

When this assessment is useful

Use it when the business has outgrown infrastructure designed for an earlier scale, before a major investment or cloud decision, after a change of IT provider, or when leadership needs an honest picture of technology risk. Capacity, lifecycle, recovery and documentation issues are considered together rather than one purchase at a time.

Assessment scope

Infrastructure baseline

Review servers, storage, networks, cloud services and how they connect.

Lifecycle and support

Identify hardware and software approaching end of support or without a clear owner.

Resilience

Examine backups, recovery arrangements and single points of failure.

Operating fit

Review monitoring, documentation, support arrangements and responsibilities.

Evidence and access

We confirm what we need at the start and use read-only access wherever possible. Depending on scope, inputs may include asset and licence registers, network and system diagrams, backup reports, support contracts, previous reviews and interviews with your IT team. How the evidence is handled is agreed with your team.

Findings that lead to action

You receive a current-state infrastructure view, a findings register ranked by risk and effort, and a prioritised modernisation roadmap. The review can prepare the organisation for a network refresh, cloud migration or a broader IT Strategy & Roadmaps engagement.

How it runs

Assessment method

01

Confirm the scope

Agree the systems, sites, questions to answer and methods, and record any exclusions.

02

Gather and examine evidence

Review records and configuration, speak with the people responsible and validate important observations.

03

Prioritise and plan

Explain each finding and its business impact, then set out recommendations, dependencies and a staged sequence.

04

Review the next steps

Walk through the findings with your team and agree what moves to implementation.

From assessment to remediation

We can take agreed recommendations through design, implementation and validation. You can also use the roadmap with your internal team or existing technology provider. Implementation scope is set from the findings. Other reviews are listed on Assessments & Roadmaps.

Frequently asked questions

Can't see your question? Ask us directly →

What does an IT infrastructure review include?

A review of servers, networks, cloud services, backups, lifecycle status and operating practices, followed by a findings register and a staged roadmap. It can cover cloud and on-premises systems together, including the connections between them.

How is this different from a network health check?

A network health check concentrates on the network itself. This IT environment review takes a wider view across hosting, cloud, recovery and support arrangements.

How long does the assessment take?

It depends on the number of systems and sites, the documentation available and how quickly people and access can be arranged. Scope and timing are confirmed in discovery.

What evidence or access is required?

Usually inventories, diagrams, backup reports, support agreements and time with your IT team or provider. Read-only access is preferred.

How much does it cost?

Cost depends on the size of the environment, the depth of review and the evidence available. Scope, timing and price are confirmed in discovery before work starts.
