Controlled cutover
Before and after photos of every device and connection, a recorded cabling map, and a baseline test of the services that worked before the change, all as the scope required.
Rosh Tech is an IT services provider. Umbrella Tech carries out onsite work at Rosh Tech's client sites, so Rosh Tech can keep its client relationships and remote configuration in-house while the physical work is done to its own standard.
One of Rosh Tech's clients needed the firewall, network switch and Wi-Fi access points at its site in Western Australia replaced in a single visit, across office and warehouse areas. Rosh Tech issued a written scope with strict rules: photograph and record every connection before touching anything, leave the old equipment connected until it was documented, test every service afterwards and confirm with the people on site before leaving.
The site moved to new firewall, switching and Wi-Fi equipment in one visit. Internet, Wi-Fi, printing, remote desktop access and the desk phones were all tested afterwards and confirmed by the staff on site. Rosh Tech received a complete handover document covering what was done and what to look at next.
Before and after photos of every device and connection, a recorded cabling map, and a baseline test of the services that worked before the change, all as the scope required.
A Palo Alto Networks firewall, a UniFi switch and two UniFi Wi-Fi access points, cabled exactly as specified and brought online while Rosh Tech's engineer completed the remote configuration with us.
Internet, Wi-Fi, printing, the VPN used for remote desktop access, desk phones and everyday device connections, each checked and confirmed by the staff on site.
We restored the desk phones after the switch change, fixed the VPN for remote desktop, aligned the Wi-Fi network name with the client's group standard, connected the office printer and sorted out user devices. This was done as goodwill, outside the agreed scope.
A 12-page record with a scope checklist, equipment changes, as-built device details, test results, risks and recommendations, sign-off and a photo appendix. Sign-in details were kept out of the document and are shared only through a secure channel.
Rosh Tech issues the scope of work, keeps the client relationship and handles remote configuration. We attend site, do the physical work and testing, and stay in contact with Rosh Tech's engineer throughout the visit. Every job ends with a handover document in the same format, so Rosh Tech has a consistent record for each of its clients. The relationship is ongoing.
If you are an IT provider who needs reliable onsite hands, or an organisation planning a firewall or network replacement, we can help plan and deliver the work.
